The latest HYROX Houston event was held on 15th and 16th March 2025.
Alongside the usual age group racing, the same sex Pro Doubles division was also a qualifier (1 of 5 in total this season) for the first ever Elite 15 Doubles races at the 2025 World Championship in Chicago. This meant the top 3 in the Men’s Pro Doubles and the Women’s Pro doubles would all qualify for the Elite 15 races in Chicago (which will be live streamed).
Read on for the main results of the weekend…
Pro Doubles
A stacked Pro Doubles division saw some incredible performances from big names in the sport, some of whom had made the journey across to Atlantic shortly after competing at the Elite 15 race in Glasgow on the Wednesday evening.Â
In the Women’s race, a strong field saw Australians Joanna Wietrzyk, and Tia-Clair Toomey take the lead early on – even ahead of HYROX individual world record holder Lauren Weeks and her partner Lauren Griffiths – and dominate the race, ultimately finishing in a stunning time of 54:24, thus breaking the world record (which had been held by world champion Megan Jacoby, and Linda Meier). It was a stunning performance by the duo, with CrossFit legend Toomey racing in what was just her 3rd only ever HYROX race.Â
In the Men’s race, we also saw the world record taken, this time by James Kelly and Jake Dearden, both of whom had made the trip over after racing in Glasgow a few days prior. They finished in a time of 50:04, breaking Hunter McIntyre and Michael Sandbach’s world record which had stood since January 2024.
