Stockholm hosted the first Scandinavian HYROX race on Saturday 25th March at the Stockholmsmässan.
Some names, of note, who were racing included the 2023 North American Champion, David Magida, Tom Hogan, Dena Hogan, and 2 of the fastest ever women in HYROX – Megan Jacoby and world record holder Mikaela Norman, teaming up in the Women’s Doubles!
Here’s how they all got on…
Doubles
The big news of the day – as expected – was in the Women’s Doubles, where the partnershoip of Megan Jacoby and Mikaela Norman (who finished 2nd and 1st respectively at the 2023 North American Championships in the Womens Elite race), achieved an impressive, world record breaking, time of 00:54:42.
The Men’s Doubles was won by Shane McGowan and Seamus Smyth in 00:57:50.
The fastest Mixed Doubles pairing was Ulf Petersen and Madeleine Larsson in a time of 01:00:11.
Men’s Pro
The Men’s Pro was won by David Magida in a time of 00:58:59. David recently won the Men’s Elite at the 2023 North American Championships (which secured him a place in the Elite race at the 2023 World Championships in Manchester). This was his 4th race of the season, and his third win.
Second was Tom Hogan in 01:01:13, followed by Steffen Blekkan in 01:03:21
Women’s Pro
The Women’s Pro race was won by Inga Loftesnes in a time of 01:09:39.
Second was Yoie Bohlin in 01:10:42, followed by Dena Hogan in 01:16:23.
Yoie Bohlin picked up a 5 minute penalty in the race due to accidentally running an incorrect number of laps (one of the common mistakes that happens in HYROX which we talk about in this article). Yoie had previously raced in the Women’s Open in Manchester, winning, and finishing in an impressive time of 60mins. Without the time penalty in Stockholm, she would have certainly been in contention for the win, as well as possibly for the Elite places at the 2023 HYROX World Championships. Here’s what Yoie had to say to us about her race:
Men’s Open
Fastest in the Men’s Open was Aaron Woodman in 00:59:47.
Second was Benjamin Adriani in a time of 01:03:03, followed by Matthew Plampton in 01:03:51.
Women’s Open
Fastest in a very close Women’s Open race was Ausrine Kutkaite in 01:10:33.
Second was Rebecka Bergsten in a time of 01:10:41, followed by Nelly Neuman in 01:10:51.
If you competed in Stockholm, let us know in the comments below how your race went, and what you thought of the day! The next Stockholm event has been announced for 2nd December 2023. There will also be an event in Malmo / Copenhagen on 30th September 2023.
