The first HYROX London event of the 2023/24 HYROX season took place on 25 / 26th of November 2023 at the London Excel. It was the biggest HYROX event ever at the time, with 20,000 people attending and 32 hours of racing. From a personal perspective, I have to say it was the best run HYROX event I’d been too. The track was very intelligently laid out, with nice wide running lanes, a well run track crossing, well positioned barriers in the course to help prevent collisions, a fantastic “thunderdome” around the wall ball area and much more. Hats off to the HYROX team, they nailed it.
In terms of the athletes and performances, Olympic Great Eve Muirhead was racing in the Women’s Open (check out our recent podcast with her here). Meanwhile, over in the Men’s Doubles, Men’s World Champion and World Record holder Hunter McIntyre teamed up with George Heaton, and Jake Dearden competed in an unbelievable 11 HYROX races across the 2 days (8 on the Saturday, starting with a 56 Mins Men’s Doubles!) – all in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Women’s Pro
There were several impressive perfoformances in the Women’s Pro division which was ultimately won by Anabel Obank in a time of 01:05:17.
Second was Jade Skillen in 01:06:01, closely followed by Katrin Hulme in 01:06:33.
At the time of writing, these results place Anabel at 15th and Jade at 20th in the Elite 15 Major Qualification Ranking. The London weekend is not counted for the Stockholm Major, but both will be hoping for a place in the Elite race in Vienna in February 2024.
Men’s Pro
The Men’s Pro race was won by Harry Thompson in 00:58:30. This moves Harry up to 17th in the Major Qualification Ranking at the time of writing, so he will be hoping for an Elite 15 roll down spot for Vienna. I interviewed Harry on the Rox Lyfe podcast – you can listen to that wherever you get your podcasts, or watch on our YouTube channel.
