2024/25 Event Review

The latest HYROX Sydney event was held on 27th July 2024 at the Sydney Showground. It was the third event of the 2024/25 HYROX season.

Read on for the main results of the day…

Men’s Pro

The Men’s Pro was won by James Kelly (who finished 3rd at the 2024 HYROX World Championships) in a time of 00:57:43.

Second was Tom Rodgers in 01:00:16, and third place was taken by Tanguy Cruz in a time of 01:00:42.

Women’s Pro

The Women’s Pro was won by Joanna Wietrzyk in a time of 01:05:07. Later in the day she was part of the relay team that broke the Women’s World Record (more on that below).  This was only the second ever HYROX event for Joanna after she raced in Melbourne recently where she won the Women’s Open in 60:30m.  The young athlete is certainly one to watch in the future.  

Second was Sydney Royce in 01:08:15, and third place was taken by Kaitlyn Matuschka in a time of 01:10:11.

Pro Doubles

The Men’s Pro Doubles was won by Camilo Torres and Mick Chapman in a time of 00:57:21.

The Women’s Pro Doubles was won by Sarah Carter and Amy Carter in a time of 01:04:32.

Men’s Open

The Men’s Open was won by Ed Womersley in a time of 00:56:51.

Second was Tommy Allott in 00:59:40.

Third place was taken by Ryan Jenkins in a time of 00:59:47.

Women’s Open

The Women’s Open was won by Issy Coombes in a time of 01:07:46.

Second was Alice Kriesler in 01:08:33.

Third place was taken by Jennifer May in a time of 01:10:03.

Open Doubles

The Men’s Open Doubles was won by Matt Hunt and Tom Campbell in a time of 00:55:17.

The Women’s Open Doubles was won by Grace Grove and Lucy Jones in a time of 01:03:17.

The Mixed Open Doubles was won by Bethany Carver and Andrew Gamble in a time of 01:00:17.

Relay

The Women’s Relay was won – in a new World Record time of 00:53:58 – by Meg Martin, Katelin Vanzyl, Maddison Biggs and Joanna Wietrzyk. We recently had a fantastic chat with Meg on our podcast – you can catch that here, or wherever you get your podcasts from.

The Men’s relay was won by William Martin, Cody Adams, Jonathon Taylor and Nikola Sovljanski in a time of 00:53:39.

The Mixed Relay was won by Georgina Andrews, Kelly Douglas, Hari Panchu and Julian Wood in a time of 01:02:18.
