HYROX have announced its most ambitious event yet on June 1st 2024. Taking place in the heart of New York City (for the first time), the one day experiential event will see over 4,500 athletes compete. Along with its signature racing format, HYROX will invest in a custom built racing arena on Pier 76 in Hudson River Park.

HYROX has seen a massive increase in demand in the US during the 2023/24 season with average participation increasing 100%.  Responding to strong demand for a Manhattan event from the New York fitness community, HYROX has created an outside-of-the-box solution to bring an event to the heart of one of the most exciting cities on earth in one of its most unique and iconic venues. The event quickly sold out as the opportunity to race in NY attracted demand from both US and International Competitors.

Christian Toetzke “Our ambition is to host a race in every major Metropole on earth.  New York has been a particular challenge in that regard and a major target for us. Our demand for significant indoor square footage doesn’t fit well in one of the most densely built cities on earth but we love a challenge. We realised that we were going to have to think outside the box and as soon as Pier 76 was presented as even remotely viable we took the opportunity.”

“For years, Hudson River Park has helped New Yorkers stay fit by transforming our open spaces into riverfront exercise spaces and we are excited to continue this tradition next summer with HYROX at Pier 76,” said Robert Atterbury, Executive VP of Park Relationships and Programs, Hudson River Park Trust. “HYROX’s racing arena will bring a new, dynamic fitness event to Manhattan, allowing thousands of athletes to challenge themselves against the beautiful backdrop of the Hudson River.”

Pier 76 was converted from a tow pound to public open space in 2021, creating a new place for recreation on the Hudson River waterfront. The pier offers flexible outdoor space, benches for visitors to relax and enjoy the views, and numerous interpretive plaques relaying the history of the area. The 245,000-square-foot pier, which is in close proximity to Hudson Yards and the Javits Center, regularly hosts major events including NYC Wine and Food Festival, Hudson River Park’s Blues BBQ, fashion shows and more.

HYROX is one of the fastest growing sports on earth with over 175,000 people participating this year. Participants in a HYROX complete a race course consisting of 8 X 1km runs with a functional movement station between each run, participants race as individuals, in pairs or in teams of 4. Opportunities to experience a taste of HYROX through training and educational events will take place throughout the summer as well as enhanced media and sponsor experience during the event.
