The latest Cologne event took place 15th and 16th April 2023.  Saturday 15th April hosted the Singles and Doubles events. And Sunday 16th April hosted the Relay events as part of the first FITTEST GYM Championships, with prizes for the top 3 teams in each division.  Details of the results of the 2023 event are shown below…

Men’s Pro

It was a strong looking lineup of guys taking part in the Cologne Men’s Pro race, many of whom had aspirations to set a time quick enough to make the automatic qualifying spots for the Elite race at the 2023 World Championships in Manchester.

Ultimately it was was won in an impressive 00:56:07 by Tim Wenisch, who broke his own 16-24 age group World Record in the process. This was the 3rd fastest time ever set in HYROX and makes him the second fastest man ever (with only Hunter McIntyre having gone quicker)!

Tim shared his thoughts with us on the race, and the upcoming World Championships, in this video…

Tobias Lautwein was second in a time of 00:57:01, and third place went to Beau Wills in 00:58:44.

Tom Hogan finished 4th in a personal best time of 58:47, which sees him move back into the Elite race qualifying positions, and James Kelly (who I interviewed just days before this Cologne race here) finished in 5th with a time of 59:01 in just his third HYROX ever.

Women’s Pro

The Women’s Pro race was won by Mirjam Von Rohr in 01:03:53.  Amazingly, just a few hours later, Mirjam then went on to race (and win!) in the Women’s Doubles!

Second was ex-World Record holder Linda Meier in 01:05:20.  Rounding off the podium was Alina Willnow in 01:05:39 whose time puts her into the qualifying spots for the Elite 15 in the 2023 World Championships.

Also worthy of mention is Mimoushka Kion whose time of 01:21:05 was the fastest time ever set in the Womens Pro, 55-59 age group, breaking the previous record by more than 11 minutes! Huge well done to her.

Men’s Open

Fastest in the Men’s Open was Dieter Schwarzkopf in a time of 00:59:43.

Second was Kyle Darmanin in 01:00:40.  Third was Marcio Silva in 01:01:55.

Women’s Open

A very closely contested Women’s Open race was won by Pia Kossack in 01:09:27. Second was Jennifer Bieling in 01:09:31. Third was Stefanie Krist in 01:09:55.

Doubles

Markus Pütz and Jaafar Moumen won the Men’s Doubles in a time of 00:54:32, breaking the 40-49 Age Group World Record!

The Women’s Doubles was won by Mirjam Von Rohr (who had won the Women’s Pro division earlier on in the day) and Rebecca Naether in 00:59:35.

The fastest Mixed Doubles time was set by Rafael Bouts and Ineke Van Koldam in 00:57:02.

Relay

Two World Records were set in the Relay – in both the Mixed and Men’s events…

The Mixed relay was won by Alina Willnow, Eva Janzen, Lars Peckmann, and Marcus Funken with a world record breaking time of 00:54:15.  Special mention should also go to Jan Dammenhain, Linda Meier, Janne Thomsen, and Clemens Reinhardt who had broken the World Record themselves on the day, only to see it beaten 30 minutes later!

The Men’s relay was won by Tom Franssens, Vince Van Der Elst, Floris Bennenbroek, and Thierry Willigenburg with a time of 00:52:50, smashing the previous world record of 54:27 that had been set in Glasgow in February 2023.

The Women’s relay was won by Sabine Von Salis, Ramona Rosa, Mandana Zehtabchi and Rahel Gntert in a time of 01:10:57.

Other German HYROX events are held in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Hamburg and Berlin.
