HYROX has announced the return of the Relay Invitational Championships. The event – which occurred for the first time in Nice 2024 – will see 20 teams invited to compete.

The top 15 participating nations from the 2024/2025 season will be invited to send a team with the remaining 5 teams consisting of ‘wildcard’ selections.

National captains will be selected based on their current rankings and leadership within their national athlete community.

The event will be livestreamed with commentary as Team England look to defend their title. Coverage will begin at 6:20 PM for a race start time of 7 PM local time on Friday the 13th of June. See our 2025 World Championships article for the livestream link closer to the event.

The Relay Invitational Championship saw its debut event at the 2024 Nice World Championships. In that event Team England led by Michael Sandbach and Kate Davey secured victory in 50.35. Team USA, with 2 world champions racing (Megan Jacoby and Hunter McIntyre), came second in 50.55. Team Germany (Linda Meier, Viola Oberländer, Tobias Lautwein, Dominic Molzahn) took the third spot in 51.08.

The relay format is the fastest form of HYROX, producing an electrifying race, with each athlete completing a total of 2 separate 1KM runs and 2 stations. Unlike regular relays, the Elite Relay requires athletes to race in a predetermined sequence, which must be submitted prior to the race.

Mat Lock Technical Director – Elite Racing “The Relay Invitational is HYROX at full throttle – fast, furious, and fearless. It’s a showcase of national pride and elite athleticism, and we’re thrilled to bring it back to the World Championship stage.
