In mid-November 2025, after months of gathering feedback, surveying athletes, and listening closely to the HYROX community, the organisation introduced something many athletes had been asking for: more flexibility when registering for events.
Beginning November 17th 2025, every newly launched event will include two options with ticket purchases – Lite Flex and Flex – created to provide participants with greater peace of mind, clarity, and control over their race-day plans. As with many HYROX initiatives, these updates were shaped directly by the needs and experiences of the community.
Lite Flex Add-On
The Lite Flex Add-On was designed to keep things straightforward while still offering flexibility. Athletes can make name changes across all divisions until 7:59 AM (event time zone), the day before race day – giving them a simple way to adjust if unexpected circumstances arise. The option does not include refunds; instead, it focuses on hassle-free participant updates.
Flex Add-On
For those who want deeper security, there is also the Flex Add-On. With this, along with the same name-change window – until 7:59 AM the day before race day – athletes can also receive:
- 100% refund up to 31 days before race day
- 50% refund up to 7 days before race day
Both refund deadlines align with the 7:59 AM event time zone cut-off.
This option is designed for athletes with demanding schedules, complex travel plans, or simply a desire for maximum protection. It removes the need to find a replacement participant, offering refund assurance no matter the circumstances.
Why the Change Happened
Real feedback, real adjustments
These updates were not created in isolation. They came from thousands of conversations, comments, and requests made by athletes across the global HYROX community. Flexibility repeatedly emerged as a top priority – especially in a sport that often requires significant travel, time, and planning.
By reintroducing Lite Flex, HYROX brought back a long-requested feature: a straightforward one-time name change. Meanwhile, the Flex Add-On remains available for those who want robust refund protection.
These options also support event operations. When athletes request refunds early, those race spots can be released back to the community through the waitlist -helping events stay full, fair, and accessible.
Looking Ahead
A safer, more transparent resale future
Feedback also highlighted concerns around second-market reselling. In response, HYROX is developing an official HYROX Resale Platform, aimed at providing a secure, verified way for athletes to transfer entries without inflated prices or risk.
The platform is currently in development, and – like the Flex Add-Ons – will be guided by priorities of fairness, transparency, and athlete protection.
