HYROX went to Copenhagen / Malmö for the first time on 30th September 2023 at the Malmö Exhibition Hall. The event had originally been scheduled for 13th May 2023 but was cancelled just 2 weeks before due to logisital issues with the equipment.
Previous Elite 15 athletes Dylan Scott and Michael Sandbach were racing to improve their 2023 time in order to cement a place in the 23/24 Elite Majors. Also racing was London Olympia 2023 winner Harry Thompson.
Men’s Pro
The Men’s Pro was won by Dylan Scott in a time of 00:58:48. This places Dylan in 16th overall in the Elite series (at the time of writing), meaning that it is likely he will receive a call up to one of this years’ majors, depending on whether other athletes drop out (and also on whether other athletes go faster than this in the meantime!).
Michael Sandbach finished in second place in a time of 00:58:59. He was already sitting in 15th place in the Elite rankings, with a time of 00:58:44 in Maastricht 2023. He therefore does not move up the rankings but will surely be happy with another impressive performance, especially after a back injury which he picked up after the 2023 World Championships in Manchester.
Third place was taken by Harry Thompson in a time of 01:01:02. This does not improve on his season best time of 00:59:34 in London, so he remains in 25th place in the Elite rankings.
Women’s Pro
The Women’s Pro was won by Vicky Polydorou in her HYROX debut – in a time of 01:10:22.
Second place was taken by Bryony Keys in 01:12:39, followed by Lucy Procter in 01:13:17.
Men’s Open
The Men’s Open was won by Giuseppe Spreafico in 00:58:51.
Second was Philipp Müller in a time of 01:01:25, and third was Bailey Wilson in 01:02:30.
Paul Gillingham our Rox Lyfe coach finished a fantastic 3rd in his age group and 10th overall with a time of 01:08:14. He will also race next weekend in Milan on 7th October 2023.
Women’s Open
The Women’s Open was won by Tilde Jensen in a time of 01:03:14.
Lienke De Jong finished second in 01:08:11, and third was Jana Schlemm in a time of 01:09:23
Doubles
The Men’s Doubles was won by Alejandro Romero and Steven Spaans in a time of 00:54:39.
The Women’s Doubles was won by Aleksandra Vargin and Martina Goerz in 01:00:51.
The Mixed Doubles was won by Ulf Petersen and Madeleine Larsson in 00:57:21.
