As HYROX grows, then so do the number of resources around it. In addition to our own site, Instagram, YouTube and podcast, I wanted to give a few honourable mentions (in no particular order) to some of the other HYROX focused media resources out there.
I’ll aim to keep this list up to date over time. If I’ve missed anything, let me know!
Podcasts
Fitness Racing Podcast (hosted by UKHXR) (https://pod.link/1606012623) – Home of Hybrid Racing in the UK. The host, Ian Kay, has consistently put out at least 1 episode each Wednesday since January 2022 so lots in the archive (he’s also helped me to put this resource list together so thanks Ian!). A mixture of elite racers and everyday warriors. Covers both HYROX and also the developing Hybrid / Fitness Racing scene.
Roxzone (https://rss.com/podcasts/roxzone/ ) – Always a good, fun listen. UK based, Ben, Max and Tom (and occasional special guests) talk about HYROX and life in general. They aim to cover the big topics that impact the HYROX community.
Hybrid Approach (https://www.instagram.com/the_hybrid_approach/) – HYROX athletes James Muscart and Joe Pattrick host this show focused on all things hybrid / fitness racing. A good, light-hearted listen – with the occasional rant!
Reinforced Running (https://www.buzzsprout.com/222591 ) – Reinforced Running is hosted by Rich Ryan, a top level HYROX athlete who was part of the elite race at the 2022 HYROX World Championships. The podcast covers a mix of HYROX racing, and OCR, and regularly features other top level HYROX athletes. You can also check out my interview with Rich here.
Obstacle Fitness X (aka OFX) (https://pod.link/1548302503) – the original podcast for all things Hybrid Racing. Ran by Ugly Dave Claxton from Canada. He is joined by Bethany McChesney and a mixture of guests.
Obstacle Racing Media (https://pod.link/675746526 ) – Hosted by Matt B. Davis, this is the longest running podcast in OCR. ORM brings weekly episodes with athletes, race directors, industry insiders, and surprise guests – again, focused on both OCR and (sometimes) HYROX. The Obstacle racing community has come to rely on Matt’s interviews, insight, and humour as a regular part of their week.
Race Brain (https://pod.link/1623221874) – A roundtable discussion style podcast focused on OCR, functional fitness and fitness racing. Hosted by Rich Ryan, Brakken Kraker, Jack Bauer and Kirk DeWindt.
YouTube
Jayfit (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKLpavwytNpnqKIJXgTFurA ) – James Muscart is well known in the HYROX community and has been involved with HYROX in the UK since the beginning. He is one of the top Pro athletes in the UK. His channel is a mix of race recaps and training tips.
Rich Ryan (https://www.youtube.com/c/RichRyan ) – The host of the Reinforced Running podcast (mentioned above) also has his own YouTube channel which has very much become HYROX focused, featuring training and technique tips, race analysis and more.
Woodsy Workout (https://www.youtube.com/@woodsyworkout1959) – “Woodsy” (real name Robert Woods) is a really knowledgable, intelligent, personal trainer and Pro HYROX athlete. His YouTube channel often features race reviews and lots of tips on how to approach the race and stations within the race.
UKOCR TV (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgWjhG9A7cfn3SyxR9OYHHg/videos ) – The “parent” of UKHXR. The YouTube channel has a mix of hybrid racing and OCR content including coverage of the UK HYROX events.
Obstacle Racing Media (https://www.youtube.com/c/Obstacleracingmedia/videos ) – As with the podcast of the same name, the ORM YouTube channel is hosted by Matt B. Davis, and features interviews with athletes, as well as event footage.
Mark Lewis (https://www.youtube.com/c/marklewisfitness ) – Mark has over 150k subscribers to his channel and with good reason given the quality of his videos. The channel is a mix of the various sporting endeavours that Mark gets up to, including a selection of videos concerning his HYROX journey, and is always a good watch (with plenty of laughs thrown in).
HYROX ( https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCr7h-eYgYlWtwaxD7Fb55cw ) – Of course, we can’t forget the official HYROX Youtube channel that, these days, primarily features technical briefings prior to each event (but has, historically, also had workouts, interviews, and event footage).
