2024/25 Event Review
HYROX went to Cardiff in Wales for the very first time, with an event at the Principality Stadium (the Wales national stadium) from May 30th – June 1st 2025. Â
The growth of HYROX in the UK, in particular, has been huge, with events selling out extremely quickly. There had been calls for another UK event, and this event in Wales, and the first stadium event in the UK, was a fitting next step for the sport.
Despite the size of the stadium, which seats nearly 75000 spectators, the course itself wasn’t huge by HYROX standards, with 3 – 3.5 laps running required per km run. That didn’t make for the fastest racing we’ve ever seen, but there were still a number of impressive performances across the few days.
As the race was so close to the 2025 World Championship, HYROX announced that anyone finishing in a World Championship qualifying spot at this race could decide whether they want to race in this year’s World Championship in Chicago (12-15 June 2025), or carry their qualifying spot forward to the 2026 World Championship.
Read on for the main results from the first ever weekend at HYROX Cardiff…
Women’s Pro
The Women’s Pro was won by Imogen Amos in a time of 01:04:59.
Second was Rachel Hodgkinson in 01:06:28.
Third place was taken by Nikki Brammeier in a time of 01:09:41. We interviewed former Olympian, Nikki, shortly after the race on the Rox Lyfe podcast – watch here (or listen wherever you get your podcasts).
Men’s Pro
The Men’s Pro was won by Danny Rae in a time of 00:57:16.
Second was Marc Dean in 00:57:42.
Third place was taken by Afan Humphries (who we have seen in a number of Elite 15 races in the past) in a time of 00:58:19.
Pro Doubles
The Men’s Pro Doubles was won by Lucas Parker and Charlie Boterill (his third race of the weekend!) in a time of 00:51:16.
The Women’s Pro Doubles was won by Alexandra Hill and Saskia Geddes in a time of 00:59:45.
All other results can be found on the HYROX website.
