THE training PLAN for DOUBLES SUCCESS

Follow our step by step plan to help to help smash the Doubles division

Racing can be tough, especially with the intensity of something like the HYROX doubles.

If you go into an event unprepared, it will show in your finishing time and make the experience a whole lot less enjoyable (for you and your partner)!

Unfortunately, it can be confusing to train for…

How can you stop second guessing if you’re doing the right thing in every training session?

How can you make progress, without leaving yourself permanently exhausted?

And how does preparing for the Doubles differ from an Individual event?

Smash Your Doubles Race

Worry no more! We have put together a 12 week training plan for you that will take you through, step by step, all you need to prepare for your next Doubles race.

Many people often put hours of work into training for something like this without making progress.  Or end up running themselves into the ground.

Wouldn’t it feel good to stand on the start line, next to your Doubles partner, energised, knowing you’ve done all you can to be as ready as possible for the race?

Would you love to discover the simple tips, tricks, tactics and exercises that give you the competitive edge?

Our 12 Week Doubles training plan is programmed by experienced coach and HYROX athlete Paul Gillingham, and will leave you raring to go when it comes to race day.

The plan can be tailored to your fitness levels, time and equipment availability, and will clearly lay out how to appropriately adjust your training in the lead up to your race (an area many competitors commonly get wrong).

That’s me! Since discovering HYROX, I’ve studied the sport endlessly, improved my finishing time by over 20 minutes, and qualified for the last 3 World Championships. I also commentate on the Elite races for the HYROX broadcasts.

Race demands and tactics, interpreting race data, nutrition, hybrid training, mindset – I’m obsessed with it all.  It’s clear that with better training, many people would enjoy their race day a whole lot more.  That’s why we wanted to put together this plan and show people how to prepare the right way for the Doubles division.

What some of our customers have to say…

After I decided to run a HYROX doubles with my son-in-law, I started to organize my training myself. I thought I could just add running sessions to my normal strength training and then I’d be fine. I was totally wrong. After a short time, I fell from one injury to the next. At 56, I’m no longer the youngest, but I want to keep up with my doubles partner as best I can.

The Rox Lyfe plan helped me a lot. The 12 weeks were very structured and the program was easy to implement. Injuries were no longer an issue.

Our time in Berlin was 1:11:34, which was fantastic for our first Hyrox.

The 12-week plan from Rox Lyfe has worked.

I used the Rox Lyfe 12 week plan it for HYROX Glasgow in March with my daughter and again for the upcoming London event.

I found it very helpful as didn’t really know where to start and would have just done HYROX exercises for months building up to the event.

I would definitely class myself as a beginner so I liked the different levels.

I hope in the future to get a singles ticket and would definitely use the same plan again.

Sarah Quinn

A friend and I decided to try our hand at our first HYROX event. I initially stumbled through many videos and HYROX oriented pages to learn how I should train but was unsure if I could get prepared in time. Even though I started with the Rox Lyfe guys 9 weeks out, I arrived on race day feeling confident and optimistic. I had a great race and am already looking forward to improving at my next event.

I decided early 2023 that I needed a new challenge, and for some reason chose HYROX. Signed up for the mixed doubles, but had no idea how to begin the training. Researched what was out there and signed up to The RoxLyfe training 12 week program. Great program to follow and you can see your progress over the weeks. My HYROX partner decided to enter Birmingham and Dublin and then the London Pro event and came 4th in her AG (all that achieved by just following the program daily).

As expected the event was unbelievably hard but strangely satisfying. Would highly recommend the program for anyone start their HYROX journey – looking forward to London 2024 and getting some more advice and hopefully improving.

We competed in the doubles category and this plan was exactly what we needed to train for our first HYROX and finish it in 1:20! The plan was very well organised, from running sessions to weights and functional training and it equipped us with the right skills and gave us confidence on the race day that we’re ready. Highly recommended to read everything from their website too as there is plenty to learn from. Good luck!

When we decided to do Hyrox in November 2023, we didn’t have a clue where to start.  My friend’s mum recommended Paul and Roxlyfe.   Their 12 off the shelf week plan helped us so much.  Every workout was clearly described out and made the process so much easier.  Shelley and I both need structure and this plan was great for us.  It enabled us to work on both our strengths & weaknesses.

We went in the Hyrox race as ready as we could ever be.  We managed to complete the race in 1 hour 33.

They were very approachable too if we had any questions.  I would like to thank Roxlyfe for this great plan and highly recommend them.

Athenee & Shelley

The plan was great and definitely helped me get HYROX ready. There were levels included which I was able to move between to ensure I was always progressing, even if I was short on time or wasn’t feeling up to the most difficult workout. Really enjoyed the style of workouts and think my leg endurance has came on in leaps and bounds.

Matthew McMurray

The exercises in the schedule are perfect for training for the different parts of the HYROX. The test run on Saturdays in the schedule is really enjoyable. Maastricht’s HYROX was fantastic, but the journey towards it was even more beautiful.

I am really happy with where I am now, both physically and mentally. I want to participate in more HYROX races and I’ll do all of my preparation with Rox Lyfe. I’m pleased with how quickly they respond to my questions, collaborate on the schedule, and check in with me before and after the event.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will the plan be delivered?

Once you have placed your order, you will be sent an email that contains a link to the plan, including race tips, and the full 12 weeks of training, in a PDF format. This means that even if your race is now less than 12 weeks away, you have a plan that can perfectly take you up to your event day.

How much does it cost?

As a very special introductory launch price, you can get access to the whole plan for a one off payment of just £55.  You will have access to the plan for life so can use it to prepare for you next race, as well as any other races in the future! All for just £55 (price will be increasing very soon though so don’t delay!).

How many days a week will I need to train?

We include training for 5 days a week.  However, within those sessions, there are optional workouts, and the amount of volume can be tailored to your time and fitness levels.  Therefore, if you need to reduce the training to 4 days a week, that’s very easily done.  And if you have time (or energy) to do more training, we tell you how to most effectively do that.

What equipment do I need access to?

In an ideal world you’d have access to equipment similar to that used in a HYROX.  However, if there are certain pieces of equipment you don’t have available to you that’s fine – we clearly explain exercise alternatives for when you don’t have the necessary equipment.

Is this suitable if I haven't raced before?

Yes, absolutely! This programme is suitable for those who have never raced, up to those more experienced athletes.  Because there are different levels to certain workouts in the plan, pacing for certain sessions can be determined in numerous ways, and volume can be adapted based on your time, fitness and abilities, it is suitable for a wide range of fitness levels and experience.

Will I need to train with my Doubles partner?
That is an option, but it is not essential for this training plan at all. The plan is designed so that you can train alone, or with your training partner. It also contains lots of tips for you on race day, including how to plan the tactics and changeovers for the race (very important in the Doubles division).
