HYROX has announced the launch of the HYROX Coaches Summit, a two-day, in-person education event for coaches taking place on 27-28 March 2026 at Allianz Stadium (Twickenham, UK).
The Summit brings together HYROX coaches, educators, and performance experts from around the world for two days of lectures, workshops, and practical sessions focused specifically on coaching within the HYROX race format. It is positioned as a global education and networking event for coaches working with HYROX athletes across all levels, and forms part of the London Week of Fitness and sits alongside a full week of racing in the capital.
The first details of the Summit were shared by Ralf Iwan, Global Head of the HYROX Academy, during his appearance on the Rox Lyfe podcast, where he explained that the event is designed to be an annual global meeting point for HYROX coach education.
“Our idea is to have an annual global event in terms of education,” Iwan said on the Rox Lyfe podcast. “Bringing coaches together for two days and then providing in-person lectures, workshops, and seminars.”
From there, the Summit fits into HYROX’s wider push to formalise coaching standards, expand education pathways, and support athletes across Open, Elite, Masters, Youth, and Adapted divisions.
Why HYROX is Running a Coaches Summit
HYROX’s decision to launch its first global Coaches Summit reflects how quickly the sport has matured. What began as a mass-participation fitness race now supports elite competition, age-group racing, youth categories, adaptive divisions, and a growing professional coaching ecosystem.
While HYROX has expanded its online education through the HYROX365 Academy, Iwan told us that coach development does not just happen in isolation:
“What I gather from the coaches community, there’s a really big appetite to come together, in person, to learn from the experts, and to exchange experience from the coaching perspective.”
The Summit sits alongside other recent initiatives such as the Sports Science Advisory Council and the expansion of Level 1 and Level 2 coach education, forming part of a wider effort to professionalise HYROX coaching globally.
HYROX presents a unique coaching challenge. Athletes must balance endurance, strength, efficiency, and durability across a race format that leaves little room for error. That creates unique preparation challenges that do not map cleanly onto traditional endurance or strength sports. Educational events such as this can give a coach the confidence and knowledge to help athletes in this rapidly growing sport. Iwan addressed this directly on the Rox Lyfe podcast:
“We’re not just talking about high performance,” he said. “It’s about making coaches better at what they do, so athletes across every level have the best possible experience on race day.”
That philosophy runs through the Summit programme, which spans running mechanics, fatigue management, physiological testing, youth development, female athlete considerations, masters longevity, and adapted sport.
What the HYROX Coaches Summit Actually Is
The HYROX Coaches Summit is a two-day, in-person event taking place on 27-28 March 2026 at Allianz Stadium, Twickenham, as part of the London Week of Fitness. Organisers expect around 1,000 coaches from around the world.
Key structural elements include:
- 25+ speakers and experts
- 50+ sessions across lectures, workshops, and panels
- Hands-on practical sessions
- An innovation and exhibitor hub
- A dedicated Summit app for scheduling and networking
For coaches attending the London race weekend, there is also an optional Summit and race ticket bundle. This includes access to a guaranteed Men’s Open or Women’s Open race slot on Thursday 26 March 2026, subject to specific conditions.
What Coaches Will Learn
The Summit programme is built around recurring HYROX coaching challenges:
Performance Foundations
Sessions on running mechanics, engine development, fatigue management, and erg efficiency focus on areas that consistently determine race outcomes. Speakers such as Fredrik Zillen, Chris Hinshaw, and Jane Erbacher (all previous Rox Lyfe podcast guests) address how small technical or pacing inefficiencies can compound over an hour-long race.
Strength, Conditioning, and Testing
Evidence-based strength and conditioning, physiological profiling, and performance testing feature heavily. These sessions explore how to assess athlete strengths and limitations and how to translate test data into practical programming decisions.
Athlete Longevity and Health
Several talks focus on keeping athletes healthy over multiple seasons. Topics include physiotherapy strategies, injury prevention, recovery, off-feet conditioning, and sports medicine approaches relevant to high-volume hybrid training.
Coaching Different Populations
The programme includes dedicated sessions on:
- Youth development through the HYROX Youngstars pathway
- Coaching female athletes for sustainable performance
- Masters athlete longevity and competitiveness
- Coaching adapted athletes with confidence and clarity
This breadth reflects the reality that many HYROX coaches work with mixed groups rather than a single athlete profile.
Coaching Systems and Decision-Making
Group versus individual training methodologies, Singles versus Doubles versus Relay preparation, and long-term athlete development frameworks are addressed directly. These sessions aim to help coaches move beyond generic programming templates.
Who Should Consider Attending
The Summit is clearly aimed at coaches, but that includes several groups:
- HYROX-affiliated coaches and gym owners
- Performance coaches working with competitive athletes
- Strength and conditioning coaches entering HYROX
- Highly engaged athletes who coach or plan to coach
Those expecting a consumer fitness expo or purely motivational content may find it less relevant. The programme leans heavily toward applied education and professional development.
Rather than targeting only elite coaches, the Summit is designed to support those working daily with mixed-ability groups, gym communities, and developing athletes.
