HYROX has announced a significant upgrade to its race and training experiences with the launch of a custom-engineered HYROX Perform Turf in collaboration with global equipment partner Centr.

The end product of rigorous wear testing and materials experimentation, this new sled turf will ensure optimal sled push and pull conditions, producing an optimal, super consistent and durable surface, which results in the same base resistance as the previous carpets. Athletes will have a first chance to experience the new turf at the World Championships in Chicago 2025.

Mintra Tilly, Director of Sports at HYROX commented: “We are now creating individual athletic experiences for hundreds of thousands of athletes in competitions and millions in training. We want to ensure that each of those experiences reflects our obsession with performance and creating a surface for the sleds which has been engineered from the ground up to standardise our athletes’ experience has been a key strategic focus for us”

The HYROX X Centr Perform Turf will also be available for HYROX Training Clubs and Performance Centers to offer the exact race environment their members will have on race day.

Key aspects of the roll-out include:

OFFICIAL RACE TURF

Designed and tested by athletes, for athletes, the Centr x HYROX Perform Turf is used in HYROX races worldwide, specially engineered for athletic movements, sled pulls, and sled pushes.

SUPERIOR TRACTION, SAFER MOVEMENTS

Turf density and pile height support optimal traction to ensure safety for hybrid training and fast-paced competition movements. The non-abrasive pile is 16mm in height, offering more movement control and consistency in training.

BUILT TO LAST

The development process included over 200,000 simulated wear tests, with ongoing endurance testing to ensure maximum durability for training and competitions.

CONFIGURABLE DESIGN

Modular competition lane system allows gyms to create customized training areas with adjustable lane and end zone configurations.

Inconsistencies with how the sleds can feel from event to event, but also in different lanes, in HYROX, has long been a controversial aspect of the sport.  Hopefully the new turf will ensure greater consistency throughout the sport!
